Sometimes detecting hidden water leaks can be difficult to do without tearing into the walls. If you suspect you have a water leak and do not see any evidence of water damage you can easily check your water meter. If all your appliances that use water (washing machine, dishwasher, ice maker etc.), and spigots are off inspect your water meter. If the water meter is still metering, there is a good chance water is still coming in. Monitoring your water bill is another easy way to detect surges in your water usage. According to the U.S. Department of Interior (Geological Survey) the average person uses 80 -100 gallons per day. That is approximately 3,000 gallons of water per month.
