Water Damage Preparation

10/1/2018 (Permalink)

Hurricane season is here.  A little bit of planning is always good. You should plan for three days to be without being part of the daily accessibility to water, food and perhaps shelter.  Especially if you are in a historically hurricane susceptible area planning is important.  Planning is always good because you may be affected even though you may not be in the direct path of the eye of a storm.  One would be better safe than sorry.  Some ideas and thoughts would be to have some candles, batteries, flashlight, bottled water, some canned good, and staples that you could live on. Make sure you have a manual can opener for those canned goods. Perhaps a radio or a two way radio communication system. It is also important to have an exit plan which would include having your family and friends know where you are.  Perhaps even a time and place to meet.  Do not forget your individual needs like if you have small children, diapers.  Your pets are important too. Medicines could be put in a place so in a moments notice you do not have to go scrambling looking for certain things. At least make up a list of the things you will need when you are calm and not under stress or duress. Common sense and a cool head should always prevail and that is why it is called preparedness.  I am sure you can think of things your family would need and you should share with your other family members and friends so they can do the same.  Being prepared is always a good thing.
