Precautions With Water Damage

10/25/2017 (Permalink)

Extra precaution should be taken when walking into a flooded area. Everyone on the flood scene should dress protectively when entering an area to lower the risk of injuring yourself on something that is not visible in the water.  Any food that has come in contact with flood waters or areas that may have been contaminated must be thrown out. Even if the food items are properly sealed or canned, it is still a possibility that they could be contaminated or contaminating other items if kept. If furniture is lightly damaged and can be restored, prop cushions and any other items that can me dried up for air circulation and keep drapes above water level to hang dry. Wipe dirt from surfaces before doing your primary cleaning unless SERVPRO has arrived on the scene.
